Welcome. Let’s find your first property. These Texas properties have unpaid taxes. You can buy some at a county auction, and some straight from the county. Pick an area to see a few good ones.

How this works ▾
Tap any underlined word on this page for a quick explanation.
The two ways to buy
- At auction. The county holds a public auction, in person or online. The minimum bid is the lowest bid the county will take. The highest bid wins.
- From the county. Nobody bid on these at auction, so the county owns them (struck off). You contact the county to buy one. No bidding.
Unlocking
Unlocking a property shows the owner, street address and account number. Each one uses 1 of your 10 free unlocks for the day. Everything you unlock is kept in My Properties.
Before you buy
- The county sets the price. It can be more than the back taxes, and the county value is a tax estimate, not a sale price.
- After a tax sale, the old owner may be able to buy the property back for a while: 2 years for a home they live in, a farm or mineral rights; 180 days for everything else.
- See the property in person and check for other debts on it first.
